Direct Pay
Clarity Acne & Aesthetic Dermatology

What is direct-pay dermatology?

Direct-pay is a model for medical care that creates a direct relationship between the provider and the patient. This model is growing in popularity due to the barriers and surprises that come from third-party payers. Surprises are usually financial: months later, you receive an unexpected bill for a service that you received.

Patients who have commercial insurance can use direct-pay services. They will be responsible for the cost, and, if they have out-of-network benefits, their insurance company may reimburse them for some or all the costs. Patients with high-deductible plans can use their HSA to pay for their direct-pay visits.

What are the benefits

of Direct-pay dermatology practice?

There are many benefits to direct-pay dermatology. The main benefit is financial: most third-party payers require high deductibles to be met before they assist with payment. With direct pay, there are no surprise bills, as you will be informed about the cost of the visit and any procedures in advance.

Another benefit is that Dr. Deborah Quinn, DNP has time to spend with her patients. She sees fewer patients so that she can give each patient the time that patient needs to understand their condition, create a treatment plan, and have the appropriate follow-up.A third important benefit is convenience. Appointments are available the same week and often on the same day. If you have an emergent or urgent matter, you will be able to be seen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Direct pay is for those with high deductible insurance plans or simply do not have health insurance. Avoid mystery bills months later and get a transparent, upfront cost for your services.

We work with your insurance company as out-of-network providers. You are able to file your statement directly to your insurance company and they will pay you directly.

By eliminating insurance from our practice, we are able to reduce our costs and keep our fees reasonable and transparent. (See above for fee schedule)

You may pay by cash, debit, or credit card. Forms of payment we take are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover as well as your Health Savings or Flex Spending Cards.

We recommend sending your lab/pathology that participates with your insurance. You can direct pay for lab work at significant savings to you.

Yes. At every visit, we will provide you with a statement of services. The statement of services has the necessary information to send to the insurance company. If you require additional information or have questions regarding your coverage, please contact your insurance company or benefits manager.

We will no longer participate in any government healthcare programs. Medicare will still cover medications or testing currently covered that our providers prescribed. If you have Medicare or Medicaid the government requires you to sign a private contract annually before we can see you. This contract indicates that you understand that medical services will not be covered that you are not allowed to file a claim, and neither are we. If you are anticipating labs or pathology to be done you will need to bring your insurance cards for us to give to the labs. If you have Supplemental Plans and have questions regarding your coverage or out of network benefits, please contact your insurance company.

No. We are not a concierge practice as we do not charge a membership fee. Patients ONLY pay when services are rendered.

Cosmetic services will not change, as always payment is due at the time of service. Will I be able to use my health savings card or health reserve account for my visits?Yes. You can pay us with your health savings credit card at the time of service. If you have a health reserve account you will still need to pay us at the time of service, get a statement of services, and turn it into your insurance company for reimbursement. If for some reason you don’t have your health savings card with you, we can use another form of payment and you will need to get a statement of services and turn them into your insurance company for reimbursement.

Please call us if you have any questions. We value you as a patient and we are grateful for your patronage and support. We look forward to seeing you again soon and providing you with exceptional care.
